THIRD WEEK EXPERIENCE
19/11/2018- 24/11/2018
During this week our optional teacher Anna ma'am and general teacher Susan
ma'am came for observation. Anna ma'am came on 19 Monday. This week I started a new chapter The Last Leaf by the famous author O. Henry. Like his other stories this story is also known for the O Henrian twist or surprise endings. It is a heart touching story. It is all about the power of friendship, hope, love, sacrifice, optimism, and care. This is one of my favourite stories . The message that the story conveys is that even the smallest sacrifice can not only have a great price but can accomplish great good. On Monday morning I have completed the chapter
The Jungle Air Crash and decided to take The Last Leaf for my observation. Anna ma'am came on 1:30 and she observed my class. After creating the initial rapport with my students through informal talk and a warm up session as it was afternoon I showed them a video of the song from the movie Three Idiots starred by Amir Khan which shows how care and motivation could help one to recover from any serious illness. As it was a song my students were interested and listened to the video carefully. They cooperated with me very well and i was satisfied with my class. I got positive comments from my teacher and I was very happy. On 21 Wednesday Susan ma'am came to observe our class. I took the remaining portion of the chapter The Last Leaf . She also gave me positive comments . The only thing she pointed out to me to was to improve my blackboard writing though it is good. the problem is that the blackboard of my class was not good. This week a new programme was introduced in our school namely the Malayalathilakkam. As the name indicates it was for improving the students skills in Malayalam. Students who are backward in class of 8th and 9th are included in the programme. They were given pencil, book, paper, pen and crayons. Games were also included. They were asked to read, write, draw and sing. Most the students were happy to sit in the class. They were shown videos of stories also. We luckily get the opportunity to be a part of the programme.
This week Saturday was a working day as Tuesday was a holiday. As the teacher in charge of the Malayalathilakkam was on leave we were asked to look after the class. There were many students who drew very well.
